The chemical industry is thriving in
business due to the increased demands of different chemicals both liquid
and solid by the manufacturers. As the global demand for products
increases, the use of plastic has increased by a huge magnitude and
since almost all of the products are made of plastic, the use of
chemicals used in plastic manufacturing is increased. There is no limit
to the chemicals that can be used in manufacturing processes. In fact, a
lot of manufacturers use various chemicals to bring out the shine or to
make their products stronger.
In a documentary, top automobile
manufacturer revealed to use cyanide while producing. The entire chassis
of the car is dipped in a huge tank containing cyanide. The application
of liquid cyanide on the body of the car helps to retain paint in a
better way as disclosed by the manufacturer. Similarly a lot of other
manufacturers also make use of highly toxic and sensitive liquids to
bring about perfection in their products. The use of chemicals is a norm
in the textile industry which is used to from start to finish. As a
tool to control chemical wastage in the factories, the
liquid level indicator is used to measure the amount of liquids being used and also present in the reserve tanks.
Since
chemicals do not come cheap, it is necessary to put a control on its
usage in the production process. The workers can be utterly negligent
when working and the chemical can get contaminated. Contaminated
chemical is of no use in production because it clearly loses its
properties when another substance is added in it. This is another reason
why the storage tanks are made keeping the chemical properties in view
when a new chemical is being added to the line. A lot of chemicals are
highly corrosive and can eat up the walls of storage tanks made of
steel. This is why special alloy tanks or plastic tanks are used with
the chemicals that are capable to eat up steel by reacting with it.
During
the production process, such as stated in the above example of the car
manufacturer, the storage tanks in the production hall cannot be
measured by a normal indicator. As the liquid splashes and creates
ripples, the normal indicator can clearly give false readings. Any
change in the liquid level can result in the product to become faulty or
lose its high quality. That is why with the help of an
ultrasonic level indicator the liquids in motion are measured.
