The factories today are much expanded
and much advanced than the factories of the past decade. With the growth
in technology, the demand of products has multiplied. People are more
conscious about brands and the brands prefer to maintain their quality
to keep the customers loyal to them. Today the war is not just of
products, but it is of the brands and the quality they present to the
public. To win the battle the manufacturers have to equip their
factories with the latest machinery and the best staff. Deadlines are
getting tougher with the race to launch a product at the right time,
probably before a competitor launches his product and captures the
better share of the market.
Business strategies keep changing and
so does the trend in the manufacturing factories due to the change in
marketing policies. The factories of today are converting from manual to
automatic rapidly. We see a lot of artificial intelligence equipped
machinery working in the factories such as the machine in the bottling
plants and paint rooms of the car manufacturers. They have huge storage
tanks that hold up to thousands of gallons of liquids to be used in the
manufacturing process. These huge tanks, as being useful to the industry
can also be the biggest threat if they spring a leak or a pipe bursts
due to excessive pressure. Since most of the tanks hold highly sensitive
and corrosive liquids, they often start getting rusty from the inside
and then a leak is formed.
To avoid any unhappy incident, the tanks are regularly checked by a method known as the checking
tightness of hatch with ultrasound.
By this method the staff can check the quality of their storage tanks
and if there is any kind of problem with the walls, the device picks it
up automatically. The method to do is very simple. Once the tank is
empty, the generator is placed inside the tank. Upon turning on the
generator it starts to emit ultrasonic waves in all directions which are
totally harmless to the environment, and the lid is shut tightly. The
person conducting the test puts on the headphones and takes the receiver
attached to a stick and starts scanning the entire tank from the
outside inch by inch.
If there is any kind of leakage, small or
big, the ultrasonic waves escape from it and are caught by the receiver
and are heard on the headphones. The area can be marked and the
repairmen would be called in to apply the repairs. After the repair work
is done, the process,
hatch cover ultrasonic tightness testing
is again conducted to make sure that the work is completed in the
rightful manner. Once the test is all clear, the tank can be filled with
its liquid and be used again like it was being used before.
