Our factories have become much bigger
and organized than the small workshops they were once. In the olden days
the factories were small, unorganized, had limited output and resembled
workshops with a bigger workforce. There were too many discrepancies as
compared to today. The safety features were not as good as provided to
the workers today. A lot of people at that time were harmed during their
work and many people suffered severe injuries which left them paralyzed
due to the injuries.
A factory no matter how big or small is, or
if it is a modern one or one of the past always stored a good amount of
supplies to make their goods. In the past storing liquids was the most
difficult task. There were no storage tanks as are available now and the
best they could do was build a huge drum where they would pour hundreds
of gallons of the liquid. A steel chain was their
liquid level indicator
which was dipped inside the drum by a person and then pulled out. The
length of the chain that got wet determined the staff about the amount
of liquid available in the drum.
Most of the factories didn’t pay
much attention to the safety of workers and a worker would carry the
heavy chain on his shoulder on to the top of the drum. From there he
would drop the chain inside while holding one end. In a lot of cases the
person doing this job would fall down in the drum while throwing the
chain inside. In case the liquid inside was acidic, the damage to his
body would be irreversible and he would either be dead or as good as
dead.
Today the rules and working styles of the factories have
totally taken a new form. There are many tools available to provide
safety to the people working in the factories and handling dangerous
jobs. The
ultrasonic level indicator
is one of the safety and measuring devices used in the factories today.
No matter what type of drum or tank you are measuring the ultrasonic
device can measure it from outside the walls. This means that no worker
has to climb all the way to the top and expose himself to the huge
quantity of liquids. Measuring the liquids inside the tank from the
outside provides safety and the opportunity to remain safe even when
measuring to most dangerous liquids.
