Ultrasonic Level Indicator for Meeting Compliance Standards
Measuring liquids at large and small levels in the industrial scale has become one of the most important jobs. Since the new methods for manufacturing quality goods with less production costs have been introduced, the use of a variety of liquids has significantly increased. With the growing use of liquids in the factories, managing them has become a serious issue because most of the liquids are too harsh in nature and can cause serious harm to humans and property if mishandled. Hence the liquids are stored in special containers fitted with a liquid level indicator so that it wouldn’t be necessary to open the top to gain access to the liquids inside the containers.

In most of the factories the use of powerful acids is on the rise. Acids are used for molding and cleansing purposes of various metal types and hence they are used in large quantities. Since these acids are required in large quantities and placing them near assembly units isn’t safe, the acids are placed in huge containers at a safe distance. The acids are supplied through specially fitted pipes and fall into a smaller tank installed within the facility. Allowing direct access to the main tank is not suitable because it would not allow exact monitoring of the liquids from the main tank. Hence the liquids are first supplied to the smaller tanks and then the staff is given access to use from the smaller tanks.

The factories which are the highest consumers of acids and cyanide's are:

  • Textile factories
  • Spinning mills
  • Power generation units
  • Steel mills
  • Automobile industries
  • Plastic molding units
  • Fertilizer plants
  • Research centers and many more

According to the ESH and compliance standards, no worker can work with acids without being provided with proper safety gadgets and gear. Hence every worker who needs to work with acids is required to wear the protective gear before approaching it. In the older days when these safety laws did not exist or weren’t followed strictly, many workers have lost their eyes or suffered severe burns to the skin. Some workers are even known to have lost their lives as they could not recover from the burns to their body inflicted by the acid spills on them.

Today it has become extremely necessary for the management to provide protective gear to their workers before allowing them to work with the toxic and hazardous liquids. The protective gear includes a suit which covers them from head to toe and an ultrasonic level indicator to measure the tanks whenever they need to.
