The ultrasonic tester device is used for the purpose which will enable you to find the leaks and cracks in the ship in the shortest possible time span. The tester device comes in the form of kit which comprises of a device, a generator, a receiver and headphones. It is battery operated. Some companies provide batteries while others do not, so you might have to purchase them. After placing the batteries in their place, just attach the receiver and the headphones to the device. After turning on the generator, place the device inside the cargo and close its hatch covers tightly.

Now you can check the Tightness of hatch with Ultrasound, through scanning the complete hatch cover and hearing the sound through the receiver and the headphones. There should be no sound, and where ever you hear the slightest beep or pulse just mark that area. It will be exactly the place where the leak or crack can be detected because from that place the ultrasonic sound waves would be leaking. Keep scanning the entire ship and the cargo and keep on marking the places where you detected the slightest sound.  After detection you just need to call the repair man who will take care of rest of the things. All this procedure takes just few hours or if your ship is too big it may take one or two days. It is not only cost efficient but also saves your time and lots of energy.
