For running a shipping business it is important to keep the ships leak free. Whenever the ship goes out for a voyage it needs to be tested for leaks as leaking hatch covers can cause the goods to be wet. Most of the time when goods are damaged due to water, they can be filed for a claim and the shipping company has to pay for the damages caused by their negligence.
Under the supervision of CEO Dr. Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter the team demonstrated how to run a successful leak detection test using the 2nd Generation Portscanner II. The Portascanner II is a portable Ultrasonic Watertight Integrity Indictor for testing watertight of hatch covers, doors, cable transit areas, scuttles and weather tight seals. The Portscanner II comes in a modern packaging which includes:
Receiver Rod: The user directs at the areas they want to survey. Any escaping ultrasound can be received by the rod and sent to the main unit.
Generator: An ultrasonic generator with three transducers which emit a strong signal in one direction that fills the area with ultrasound pulses.
Receiver: It processes and displays any ultrasound that escapes from a leak and is picked up by the rod. The results are displayed on the screen as well as outputted to the headphones.
Headphones: Any ultrasonic pulse outputted as audible readings are identified by the unit.
