Change in Production and Measurement
The growth and expansion of the human population all over the world has caused a massive change in the ways factories are built and operate. Today a factory spans over many acres of land and every portion of it is designed to serve the purpose to its maximum. The storage areas, in the past were built to just provide an area where everything could be dumped for further use. Today the storage areas of factories are not just dumping grounds but they are organized and purposely built. They have open space for storing bulky goods such as machines and other stuff; they have racks which are marked to contain the dry items such as nuts, bolts, buttons and other stuff. The latest change that has been adopted is the installation of many different kinds of storage tanks and containers which have a state of the art liquid level indicator fitted with each tank and container. These indicators are of various designs, sizes and shapes. Some have needles as markers while some have digital LCD to show the readings. These different types are used to serve the different purposes because there are many different types of liquids contained in the tanks and containers.

The use of materials in the factories has become diverse. In order to bring out the most from a material, different types of chemicals are being used. Even in the food industry there are many different types of liquid and solid chemicals being used. The different types of flavors come in both powdered and liquid forms which are mixed along with the other ingredients to bring out the taste. In most factories such as tanneries and plastic moldings, the use of highly toxic chemicals is very high. These toxic materials are used to bring shine in the product, clean it and even to make the hard materials turn soft so that they can be twisted and turned as desired. Since the demand of the public is changing it has created a massive change in the way products are made. The change in the manufacturing has forced the factories to change their operating styles too. The installation of single skinned containers has become a necessity due to the use of toxic chemicals and these tanks cannot be measured by the ordinary level indicators. Therefore the best device to use for these tanks is the ultrasonic level indicator which has the ability to measure through the walls of the containers. This means that the containers do not need to be opened to know about the liquid level inside. By using the ultrasonic waves, the ultrasonic level measuring device obtains accurate level from outside the container. By placing the transducer on the wall of the container, the waves penetrate the walls and find their way inside. Once they hit the surface of the liquid they bounce back and the transducer catches them and sends to the device. The device automatically calculates the distance and the time it took the waves to return and gives out the measurement. This simple rule helps to measure the most complex tanks and containers within seconds.
