Avoid Having Empty FM 200 Cylinders
When fighting uncontrolled flames, gases have proven to be more useful than water. In many cases water has either proven to be inefficient or it has become a reason of increased damage. The best example is when there is a fire due to a short circuit. Electricity can use water as a conductor to travel further. When water is poured on something that is already filled with electricity, not only is it provided an extension in the form of water, but it can also electrocute the person holding the hose. Hence a substitute of water was imminent because such cases were on the high rise.

At a time when a fire has broken out uncontrolled and uncalled for, and the reason being an electric short circuit, the FM 200 fire suppression system is one of the most effective for killing out the flames. The FM 200, being a non conductor and a non flammable gas, can very well fight off fire and also tackle the electric spreading ability at the same time. If an office or a multiplex complex goes up in flames, the electric wires that run through it become a huge threat. Unless the main electric supply is cut off, fighting fire with water can be dangerous.

It is obvious that the electric wires have lost their protective layers after being exposed to intense heat. They are now naked and full of electricity. Even a drop of water would extend their area of approach and this can be the cause of an even greater calamity. The switch boards, sockets and other places where there are openings for electric appliances or switches are usually live with current in them. When water is sprayed with a force, it easily gets inside such areas. Even though the wires may be intact, the jet of water would certainly create another problem the fire fighters didn’t ask for.

With the FM 200, there is nothing to worry about. It can easily minimize collateral damage and increase safety for the fire fighters at task. But there is one thing that should not be ignored, checking the gas levels with the ultrasonic liquid level indicator. Even if the FM 200 is actively taking part in diffusing the chain reaction, an empty cylinder would be extinguished in the middle of the need and there would be drastic results. Empty gas cylinders are as good as being nonexistent.
