Keep Water in Liquid Form in winter
Winter is approaching fast and some would say it is already here. Winters in the United Sates can be very unfriendly due to the temperature falling below zero. Every liquid freezes and water in the tanks become a huge block of ice, and when someone opens the tap, there is nothing coming out but cold air. Some of the buildings have fire burning below the water tanks to keep the water in liquid form and to protect it from turning into ice. The buildings where many people are residing such as housing complexes or commercial buildings, it would be a disaster if the water turns into ice. There would be chaos of people screaming for water to manage their routines and the management would be in a frenzy to provide the residents with water.

Water level needs to be checked often with the liquid level indicator and in case the level is showing extra ordinary levels, either too high or too low than the normal, it clearly means that ice is starting to form in the tank. Since ice is denser than water, it starts floating on the top and the water level being shown on the indicator would also rise to a level that is beyond normal. The staff would certainly know that the water is turning into ice due to the freezing temperature and adequate measures need to be taken to prevent ice from expanding. If the entire tank’s water becomes ice, it would soon start expanding and the danger of bursting the water tank would be at an alarming level.

To keep the water from turning to ice, it is needed to provide some sort of heat to the water tanks. Some of the buildings build a temporary hearth below the water tanks and keep it alight with the wooden logs. The heat rising from the hearth keeps the tank warm enough to keep the water in its liquid form. In case the water tank is too high and only the bottom is able to be warmed, using the ultrasonic level indicator it can be determined how high the ice in tank is. Certainly the ice would be floating on top and the water would be below it. Using the data, enough fire would be lighted below the tank to melt the ice but not to boil the water inside the tank or else many people would be admitted n the hospital for water burns.
